Upon scrutinizing the article
With his 1841 short story, "The Murders in the Rue Morgue," Edgar Allan Poe invented detective fiction. His main protagonist, C. Auguste Dupin, was no extra than an non-professional personal investigator, who, above a whim, decides to solve a couple of gruesome homicides that left the police utterly confounded. The circumstance solved and the short story concluded, Monsieur Dupin and his mystery solving nature could have been left for dead favor so numerous of Poe's noted temperaments (e.g. the not-so-fortunate Fortunato).

The Murders in the Rue Morgue by Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe's Detective, C. Auguste Dupin
A Brief History of Detective Fiction
Often credited as the "first-ever fictional detective," Dupin is an explanatory and frightfully discerning amateur private investigator. In reality, Poe's "detective" is not many more than an unemployed philosopher with keen gifts of observation and deductive reasoning. A membership of a once rich family that "by a diversity of untoward events" has lost its asset and status, Dupin retreats from Parisian society. He hides away [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], collecting infrequent books, until a opportunity appointment with the unnamed narrator starts a tight friendship. It is here that "The Murders in the Rue Morgue" and Dupin's legacy start.
Poe's "The Mystery of Marie Rogêt" — The Return of Amateur Detective C. Auguste Dupin
With the success of "The Murders in the Rue Morgue," C. Auguste Dupin was predestined apt return. But namely return would not be as grandiose or sensational.
In fact, Poe did presently follow up with 2 of his maximum enduring Gothic horror pieces, "The Tell-Tale Heart" and "The Pit and the Pendulum." But C. Auguste Dupin would fast live another, re-appearing around one annual later in Poe's second detective story, "The Mystery of Marie Rogt."
"The Mystery of Marie Rogt" begins former later the murders in the Rue Morgue. Dupin's testimonials as a problem solver are now well built. Here, hie invokes logic to explain the mystery circling the wild murder of a juvenile perfume saleswoman, Marie Rogt, Marie's body has been found floating in a river, and her perceptible murder has worked weeks unsolved. Speculation on motives and criminals is plentiful, with the bulk view creature that she was vanquish by a murderous gang.
Amateur Detective C. Auguste Dupin and Edgar Allan Poe's Gift of Detective Fiction
In his second attempt at mystery prose, Poe focuses almost entirely on Dupin's reasoning skills, so many so that the solving of the murder loses all its magnitude. The setting of "The Mystery of Marie Rogt," like that of "The Murders in the Rue Morgue," is Paris. But in few ways are the stories structurally comparable.
In his 1842 short story, "The Mystery of Marie Rogt," Poe refuses to give his spectators something that barely copies Rue Morgue. The merely constants among it and the earlier Dupin anecdote are the causing and rational assumption abilities (what Poe cried "ratiocination") of Dupin himself and the storytelling competence of one unnamed narrator sidekick.
"The Mystery of Marie Rogt" is limited to a single setting detached from the scene of the crime. In the company of the narrator [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Dupin reads several newspaper treatises pertaining to the murder and explains his conclusions to his friend. Unlike "Rue Morgue," Dupin does not visit the guilt scene, analyze certify [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or exert himself in capturing its criminal.
